Mentors

Sevada Andoun

Sevada Andoun is a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Raytheon and has been a TorBots mentor since the 2008 build season.  He graduated from Drexel University in Philadelphia, and is working towards his Masters in Systems Engineering from John Hopkins University.  In addition to TorBots, he loves to ride motorcycles, play golf, and work on his Camaro rebuild project.

Brad Moylan

Brad Moylan is an alumni of both South High School and the TorBots and currently is pursuing a degree in Management Science and Engineering with a concentration in Production and Operation Management. The 2012 build season will be his seventh year affiliated with the team. When he's not helping out the TorBots, Brad enjoys SCUBA diving, technical theater, and Stanford History and Trivia. He feels that the TorBots allow high school students to get real-world and hands-on engineering experience, a privilege that he feels not many students are afforded.

Zoltan Laszlo

Zoltan has mentored the TorBots through 5 years of competition. He studied mechanical engineering at Cal Poly San Louis Obispo and worked at Moog as a design engineer for 6 years before going to USC for his MBA. For fun, he mountain bikes and surfs and builds TORBOTS! His favorite thing about TorBots is seeing the students learn to put the effort, smarts and discipline into making a robot competitive.

Robert Bornino

Mr. Robert Bornino has volunteered hours upon hours of his time to the team for the past three years. He currently works at National Technical Systems as the Director of Satellite Testing Services. His passions include old cars, computers, high tech gadgets, and anything that goes into space! He believes that robotics teaches kids how the world works and that this is as close as it gets!

Rafael Martinez

Rafael Martinez, previously a member of the TorBots himself, also mentors the TorBots. He currently studies at Long Beach City College and this marks his third year of affliation with the team. He enjoys playing video games and golfing when he's not caught fixing chain or working on an aerospace-related project. Rafael loves the cohesiveness of the team and how the TorBots all work together.
