The FIRST Tech Challenge is another high school robotics competition for teams that want to start off smaller. Relative to the FIRST Robotics Competition's Kit of Parts, the FTC kit is more affordable and accessible to high school students and mentors alike.
Founded in 2005, FTC (then the FIRST Vex Challenge) was a two-year pilot program using the Vex robotics kit. Now in its fourth year, FTC has more than 1000 teams from high schools all around the world, with each team having no more than ten members. It uses the FTC Competition Kit, which contains controllers, software, hardware, sensors, motors, and other parts.
